I've just rented myself a domain form a site, and i now have the bare bones of a site....but i know nothing about HTML and am probably pissing against the wind to make anything of it.
Is there any kind web designers there who can point me in the direction of some decent "how to" sites?
I want to have my videos on the site, and design it round the avatar i have here.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also. I have adsense stuck onto the home page (the only thing i worked out how to dop, and a few people to register and click the ad afew times a week would be nice to see if will recoup the €5 or so a month i paid...i want to have a graphic next to it saying "click here and help pay for the site" eventually, but i really want to see if google will actually come across with anything for the clicks.
There is a forum a blog and not much else at the moment....PM me if you want to join in, or have any useful advice.
Thanks...Huck
theres probably gonna be better advice than this, but a few years back i was helping a mates band out and offered to do them a website (i didnt know how to at the time). i got a html for dummies book and it was like back to basics 80's style logic programming like spectrum or bbc style. somebody then gave me a dodgy copy of dreamweaver and it was brilliant it also had another thingy with it that dealt with flash, both were simple and gave me nice looking pages......but!!! im told they are hundreds of pounds/euros to buy.......not sure if this is still true as it was 7 or 8 years ago.

They're the top dogs when it comes to web standards so the info is always correct, the tutorials are well written and they have a handy little "Try It Yourself" feature that lets you see how the code you're learning works in practice:

They also cover CSS which should be your next stop after getting to grips with HTML.

Huck, Have a look at my church site and see if this is what you want.

(I get the address for my own after a year of paying the site)
Eventually the background will be black, and the writing white, so i can add images and make it look seemless....image links where the site links are (small boxes with a little face, and writing) will replace the site links list, and a footer image. I'd love to get my little face's eyes to follow the mouse cursor, and would pay for the code that makes it happen.
I would also like to get rid of the security code after every bloody forum post.

Next you're gonna tell me there's space and bandwidth constraints too.
Christ, PM me and I'll set you up man.

I was going to have white text and black background, but i inadvertedly changed text in the forum aswell, now i've got the text red so i can try and work out where i went wrong. This is killing much beer time.
