I have no idea. If aspviper and Huck are right and it's "Dummkopf", it would mean "nitwit". But it doesn't sound anything close to "donkoff", more like "doomkoppf".

As I said, it's possible to correct a post without understanding it, although I may understand it after having corrected it. It's true that I can understand most posts with bad spelling if I make an effort (first correcting it in my mind, then rereading to get the content), but I don't always make that effort, especially if I know that the person could spell ...[text shortened]... as much her problem as mine if she wants me to understand her posts. If she doesn't, fine.
It's obviously an ego thing.

No,Norlys,I mean that The poster you were replying to meant dummkopf instead of donkoff .You know I'd never call you that. 😕

Yes, I figured that afterwards. It just seemed strange that you came up with "Dummkopf" as I couldn't see much similarity between that and "donkoff", so I thought maybe you were just making fun of me. But you may have been right after all. While I still can't see much similarity, I can't think of any other German word which comes closer.

I find it hard to believe otherwise. Your way of correcting mistakes is in no way friendly, not in my eyes at least, so to claim that it is for the benefit of the corrected one...well...it's hard to believe.
