It's getting addicting...and the thing is, the money comes back in theory. I only pick five star people to loan to.

It's not about making money. It's basically about donating use of your money to the poor, especially those in third world countries. Think of it as a charitable donation where you usually get your money back.

I first heard about this on the PBS show Frontline a couple of years back which featured Kiva.

I thought I was making money, just not very much. I can't seem to find out that detail.

EDIT - Kiva lenders do not receive any interest because of US Government regulations.

Oh well. Does anyone know how I can make microloans and make money doing it?

Well, my first loan is being paid back on schedule. 6 months from May I should get my $25 bucks back once the loan is fully paid off.

I guess I'll have to live with your reduced respect. What a pity.

I reckon they should pay back an extra 2% or something, just as a token of thanks and stuff. If you've just given them the money to give them the ability to pay you back, then they must be making a buck themselves....seems only fair 😛

You can "lend" someone something, but how can you "loan" someone something?

Really, people here give their grandmas old organs away all the time. In fact if you go to the thrift store there is always at least a few there. There is not much market for them when a decent keyboard will suffice for most people, not that I don't keep my eyes peeled for a Hammond B3. The shipping will kill you too, they have to go freight and that could take forever.
