You know the funny thing about that is that I did go to Mexico when I lived in the States - Once, even though I had my green card, they gave me more hassle than I've ever had trying to cross a border. This was pre-911 btw. I laughed - mainly cuz I was high, but also because it was the funny kind of irony.
