yes , the dictionary is always allowed , one may specify which dictionary of course but the short answer is that it is allowable. Note that not all dictionaries may be printed in your desired array of multi lingualality's ( sp) thank you, big b.

I have an old German-English-French-Italian-Latin one, although I'd try to find something a bit more modern and with some other languages.

I think I'd get a blank book.
(and a pen)

I like that. Although from my limited attempt in learning foreign languages I am not going to be a multilingual person. I didn't get on with French, Latin or Chinese.
C'est la vie!

Hmmm, that's an interesting twist. Good one! Stimulate your own creative juices by writing your own.

The trouble with writing your own book - when you get round to reading it - you already know the plot?
(unless you don't look at what you're writing I suppose)

But nothing was said about not being allowed to have a pen or paper, so we could have an already-written book and write our own stuff. It'll just have to stay in the form of loose arks, I guess; otherwise we'd suddenly end up with two books, which isn't allowed.

Yes but you get to tell yourself the story. And just like any book, you won't know the story until you let it unfold. The possibilities would be endless. It would help keep your mind active and alert.

Well, I suppose we made an assumption there didn't we Nords? Why couldn't a person use another tool as a writing instrament?

And the book could certainly consist of blank pages. Somewhat like a diary.

Of course a person could use a different writing tool, but if pens are allowed, there's no need. And of course the book could consist of blank pages, but I want a book to read, too. So I'd get a book to read and loose arks to write. If I am not allowed to have a pen and paper, I can still look for other writing tools. For example, I could carve the story in stone.

Hmm, point well taken. Good thought Nords.

I always thought that Doestoyevski seemed kind of endless. Anna Karenina went on forever as well.
