just like the mail with IMPORTANT on the envelope
just like the emails with IMPORTANT in the subject header
just like the customer service cue, "your call is important to us"

yes, this is IMPORTANT
I appreciate when they do that; goes right to the recycle bin. Saves me the trouble of opening it.

My postman would just put it back in my box. They're lazy. (That sounds better than the truth, which is that I'm too lazy to walk it back to the mailbox when the bin is right there).
My mail goes into a PO box at the Post Office (I refuse to have street delivery). PO box has a yellow sticker, meaning only correctly-named mail goes in the box. PO sorter has the list of names. I never even see all the rubbish. Very civilised. 😀

Kewpie, this "yellow sticker" and the "PO sorter" appear to provide the same safety measure as an RHP Iggy. Cool.

Sorry for the delay but I was opening all my other IMPORTANT mail. I won something from Reader's Digest and I got a 10% discount card from La Senza and it appears that I have $4,000,000 waiting for me in Nigeria.

It was just announced here in "THE GREAT WHITE NORTH" that home mail delivery in cities will stop shortly in favour of clusters of mailbox "apartments"...progress eh?
