Sum and substance of all the chess games and moves, forum threads and posts: Hardly a difference maker. Few clever moments but otherwise a predictable, petulant and benign fellow who seemed unabashedly proud of his occasional trusted 'gunga din' gofer role for the old guard. Nothing here. Move on.
"Thanks" to you?
"Thanks to you?" Of course not. No more so than with the initial swell in power elite curiosity posts and private messages regarding the sustained public contributions of any other articulate, open minded and free spirited prodigal son returning from an unanticipated brush with death or rugged individualist new member. All power elite centers of influence become threatened easily.

Originally posted by moon1969Not quite, Moon1969. Joined in July, 2007, at my son's urging for the express purpose of playing chess with the two oldest of my six grandchildren. Playing serious chess with players from around the world was the last thing on my mind. God knows I was rusty, having been away from the royal game for three decades (due to family responsibilities and the press of professional career demands). Believe it or not, I didn't stumble across and discover the tandem joys of forum participation until December. These events took place following my wife's departure from this life. RHP filled a deep void. Threw myself into the fray, gradually getting back in the groove with chess and stubbing my toes more than once in the process of learning site social mores and internet protocols.
GB are you member of RHP for the primary reason of posting in the RHP forums, and that playing RHP games is secondary. I notice you only have one RHP game progress. I don't mean anything by the question, but just wondering.
Getting back in the swing this time around, following my unanticipated serious illness, I've decided to ramp up gradually on the chess scene. Forums offer an opportunity to greet old friends, swap thoughts with strangers, maintain continuity day to day.

I am not saying this is the case for absolutely everyone, but you will find most of the time this is the way it is.
