Is something missing? Does chess need:
"The Chimp" - jumps knight-like forwards, backwards or sideways two squares.
"The Spoon" - range of one square, no diagonal movement.
"The Uncle" - one square, any direction including diagonals.
etc.
(I know the answer is "no", but well done to whoever posts it first.)
I played a version of four player chess where there was a piece called 'the prince' who could (by virute of doing over another king or similar) be crowned to become super powerful. I only played it once, but it was kinda cool (certainly made you think!)
I don't think chess needs an extra piece though.
Edit: Some people have adapted a new piece as part of their game it seems... 'The Engine'
😛

And what moves would the mole make?
You could have a peice called the d#umb@ss. It would move around the board as randomply determined by a pair of dice, and couldn't capture. But all peices one square in any direction would be affected by it's stupidity and have their movement restricted for a set amount of time. It would be shaped like a drooling face.
