I bought a Epson Stylus C46 printer about 4 weeks ago. I have printed about 20 pages of text on normal quality and the fricking thing is out of B/W ink already. Is this for f***ing real? Or will it just be a crap quality cartridge because it came free with the printer?

I've had a similar experience, I'm afraid that the quicker they run out the quicker you buy another one within this capitalistic society.

The ink carteridge that comes with new printers is usually not a full version. I think you'll find your next cateridge will last a lot longer.

I've been using the same ink cartridge on my printer now for over 15 months.
But the printer broke about 11 months ago, so it's not really surprising.

I believ that it should be a leagel req for ink certridges to be see through so at least you know its full when you start.

What I'm worried about isn't the one particular cartridge in question, i'm worried that any other cartridge will last 20 sheets. If so, it would be cheaper to get printouts in a shop. P*** take. 😠

I hope you are right. Otherwise I shall have to get a new printer. It will work out a lot cheaper in the long run.

I think Exy is correct. I own two printers at home (1 bubble jet, 1 ink jet), and the initial cartridges did not last very long, the replacements lasted much longer. And I'm finding even when my office gets a new printer, the same thing happens (this seems to be true of color deskjet, inkjet and bubblejet printers, I can't speak for laser printers. I only use laser printers at the office, and I've never noticed whether the initial cartridge starts out with less toner).

Okay. Thanks. I shall go and get a new cartridge and see what transpires. 😛

don't forget to set the quality of the printing to 'draft' (as opposed to 'best' or similar) when you're not printing important stuff... makes the ink last a lot longer.

god, it's saturday night and i'm writing posts about printer ink consumption. time to stick my head in the oven...

I think Exy is correct, but there are other things you might want to check. Each and every program has a setting for hw bold the text is. If your setting is set for enhanced mode then your printer might be hitting the same image twice. You didn't say if you were printing text or pictures, but I'd bet you printed some pics out in enhanced mode. One other thing... you don't want to print a black background in a picture with an inkjet printer w/o realizing how much ink it's going to take. 🙁

well i trued sticking my head in the oven but microwaves won't turn on with the door open.

glasgow university has a tartan, which is the one i would wear when i have to wear a kilt (doesn't happen often) - as the clan edwards... um, doesn't exist.

the farcical nature of all things tartan was brought home to me the day i discovered american express has one...
