that completly blocks EVERYTHING that one could see/read/be contacted by some person directly, or indirectly (through mutual friends statuses, tagged photos, walls etc.) on Facebook ?

I would gladly do so but unfortunately, most of my friends are from abroad, so Facebook is important to me in order to stay in touch with them.

Not quite. The problem is that you are not putting your FRIENDS on ignore list so you can find all sort of crap in their profiles, walls (public chat), anywhere where they interact with other members.

you can change settings so only your friends see you - others would need to add you to see your profile. This is what i've done and you cant come up on searchs

erm i can only see my friends on facebook unless i go searching but i dont come up on searchs and on friends pages i just come up as a faceless identity whose profile strangers can't access.

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking, i assume you're asking for a way not to be seen or contacted by non-friends.
