Originally posted by CrowleyI hope this ref goes on to the finals. This was by far the best ref'd game aside from the one bad call for Germany right outside the box. There was no foul and German guy got the call after throwing his hands up as if there was.
Not just that, the players weren't at acting class.
At one stage there was about 10 minutes in the 1st half when the Italians pulled a few stunts that the ref fell for, but overall he let the game flow nicely.
This game should be used as a FIFA guide for refs of future games.

You're just jealous because your crappy team went home early as usual.
Salute me Rooney, woodhead.
Italians have deserved to go through.
As for England they didn't play well in the tournament but they were humstrung be a negative coach completely out of his depth who has conned the English out of GBP25m over the last 5 years.
The guy has never even taken a training session, pulls the whole team back for corners and to prove he really did loose the plot picked a 17 year old kid for the squad that never even played in the Premiership. As for penalties, well the Germans ensure their Goalkeeper knows which way to dive as they make use of databases analysing penalty kicks.
A lot of Rooney's sending off was down to that Swede as he should have realised that the lone striker role was going to frustrate Rooney sooner or later.
His poor use of substitutions have been legendary and it has been obvious for ages that Lampard & gerrard can't play in the same team however he continued to pick them. He had a gem in Hargreaves that he failed to utilise.
Thank God he is off. however the replacement is part of the problem, being part of the existing management team, and not the solution.
So if we feel sick then let us be, we have wasted the talents at our dipsosal.

Rooney did a dumb mistake and it cost England the game. It's that simple. I'm sure they would have won if it wasn't for that red card..
Originally posted by GolubI didn't say all the blame was down to him( Re the sending off) but he certainly played a part. Fact is we have been conned by Eriksson. You are welcome to defend him, and I am not against foreign coaches, however when I compare him against his peers (Hiddink, Scolari, Lippi. Klinsmann) he comes a long way short. He fails to read games properly.

Personally, I don't believe Italy deserved to be in this match.... but they did play a blinder and got the win in the end, so congratulations Italy and Italian fans.
Originally posted by ElleEffSeeeTypical Pommy whinger. They have the worlds most over-rated team (and it shows time and time again), and what’s worse, they are jealous of all the other teams which actually have class. Plus, do you really think the Italian defence is full of wimps. They would absolutely snap you in half if you tried to get past them.
The Italians are the biggest bunch of pathetic wimps I've ever seen. They should be playing in the women's world cup (sorry ladies 😞).
Originally posted by EsotericSolid in defence, creative in midfield, perhaps just lacking a little punch up front, but if there is a better side in this tournament than Italy then they'd better prove it, cos to be frank, I don't believe it for a minute!

Germany did OK, a young side with plenty of promise for the future, but against the Italian defence they were clueless. Maybe a couple of half chances could have gone in but they didn't.
This was a good game. Not a fantastic game but overall a good advertisement for football. And the best team won, make no mistake.
Originally posted by asromacalcioI only saw the first half and was (pleasantly) amazed at the sportsmanship shown on both sides, was the rest of the match played in the same way?
Yes, I don't recall any questionable actions, by either side, the game did each nation and the tournament credit, without being fantastic.

Cannavaro - what a player. Then you get my best mate (who is a huge England and Arsenal fan) saying that John Terry is better than him. Bah.
Zambrotta - What a player. Same idiot says that Ashley Cole is better than him. Bah
Buffon - Awesome. (Even the most obstinate, pig-headed English supporters can't say that Robinson is better than Buffon)
Pirlo - World class performance.
The whole team was superb with the exception of Camoranesi. I'm not a fan and I was tearing my hair out because of his play.
For the final, play Del Piero instead.
We have a full team for the final. I'm not sure if Nesta should come back, because Materazzi has been superb. Then again, at this rate, Cannavaro can play in defence on his own.
Forza Italia.
Heads high lads.
Awesome.
