It's really all about Red Hot Pawn, a unique internet chess site stage, and ultimately very little about any of us who play bit roles in swelling a scene or two. Make no mistake. We all are the beneficiaries. I for one am grateful to my son for discovering RHP and encouraging me to become a member on 13 July '07 and to two of of my six grandchildren in the Boston area for innocently suggesting my nickname. Some ways wish I'd ignored them, in favor of Viking Son or Boston Lad.
I'm grateful to my friendly, formidable opponents across the noble 64 for allowing me to have made 13,000 chess moves as of this date, 9 February '10 (an average of 5,037 per year, 420 per month and 14 per day). I'm grateful to all public forum posters for the enjoyment of engaging in conversation with and learning from them within their own threads and for responding to my own posts (totalling 11,325 or an average of 4,388 per year, 366 per month or 12 per day). I am grateful to tonydugay of Devon/Cornwall, England, for accepting my open invite late last week and for accomodating my 13,000th RHP chess move (f8-e7 in an odd and off the wall Queen Fianchetto/almost Nimzo Howitzers defense earlier this morning).
My gratitude to Policestate, Ice Cold, Dragon Fire for welcoming me to their clans and clubs. Last my gratitude to Russ & Chris for their enterprising spirit, technical savvy, commitment, leadership in making it all possible in the first place and for their grit and patience which continues to sustain this unique global community site, which means the world to me. ~gb
