Good Man! I honour you! Better than some I know or have known. In fact, to admit it is the greatest thing you did for you! Not for others - for you!

Now you know what to work on! 😉
Thanks. I am doing it to help myself. But in a way also for her. She is the only person who knew I had a problem or cared enough to confront me about it. But I know I am helping myself.

I have a history of alcoholism in my family. 90% of my mother's side have been or are alcoholics. I do feel the same weakness for it in myself, which is why I constantly monitor my consumption. occationally is okay for me, but when I catch myself from drinking or wanting to drink for no good reason (that is, when I'm making up reasons), I hit the breaks.
Same here, pretty much.

BS! Are you a doctor or alcohol counsellor! Have you experienced it first hand! BS BS BS.

Any alcohol rehab centre will make it clear that after all the rehab expense they would like all to be on Antabuse when they leave - if they don't have too much liver damage that is!

For once, you're talking out of your backside ! 🙁
This is rubbish, maybe they did a generation earlier but no rehab clinic, worth its salt, operates in that way now.

Medication is meted out, under strict supervision, upon admission for those suffering with withdrawal symptoms. Normally there is a program of Librium as I already stated and Thiamine to help with detoxification.

No clinic will expect you to be on disulfiram (which trades under Antabuse) when you leave. That form of therapy is completely at odds with the modern methods of counselling, group-therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and neuro-linguistic therapy.

As for how I know this, it's none of your business. I am not disposed to parading my private tragedies on an Internet forum.

I wish I could type this is the first time your comments have emanated from your backside.

That comment wasn't directed at you. You want to stop drinking and asked for advice, which I think is commendable. It's not like your posting a sad and sorry 'oh woe is me' diatribe. Mikelom tends to make those posts and now I am not even sure if I believe half the stuff he posts.

Well I'm on my 10th day of being a sober person, thats the good part. The bad side is that my ex gal still won't talk to me 🙁

It is going to take a while. It took longer than ten days to get into this mess. Your being sober doesn't erase the wreckage of your past; you still have work ahead of you. Hang in there, buddy.
