The Jets and Pats have a long nasty history. From Parcells leaving NE to go to the Jets and Bellichik doing the reverse to Curtis Martin to Mangini to Spygate to 45-3 etc. etc. etc. People think of the Pats as having dominated the rivalry and I guess they have mostly in recent years ...[text shortened]... Jets in the off season this year.

Personnel wise, the Steelers are superior practically everywhere. But the Jets have that look of a Team of Destiny. I don't put too much stock in the Jets regular season win; it was a nail biter and a game the Jets absolutely had to win.
I think it's a tossup; I guess for what it's worth I give the Steelers a slight edge - Big Ben remains a great big game QB and makes plays at the end of those type of games (like the long pass on 3rd and whatever that decided the game last week). But a Jet win wouldn't be a big surprise.

The Jets did not "have to" win that game. They probably would have made the playoffs even if they lost that game (well, definitely in retrospect; probably at the time) and they had little chance of catching the Pats anyway. The game could have been important to Pitt for the division (though of course they won it anyway).
The Jets were playing terribly coming in. That they managed to win anyway on the road bodes pretty well for them. I'm watching a replay of the game now on NFL Network. The Jets played well that game. I don't see why they can't beat this team. They actually match up well with Pitt. The Jets stifle the run pretty well and with Revis on Ward, I don't see who is going to run wild on the Jets' secondary.
I'm not saying it will be easy, but I give the Jets at least a 45% chance of winning this game.

I heard Chris Collinsworth this morning in an interview and, while he picked Pitt in the game, he said he thought the Jets were better man for man. Just as most of the people who picked Indy and NE against the Jets (justifiably, of course), he said that while the Jets may have more talent, the QB differential would be dispositive. It didn't turn out that way in the last 2 games; we'll see what happens this time.
