Are you aware that Messi was pumped with hormones by Barcelona
throughout his childhood, hence he is technically a living cheat?

Some weed and coke here and there don't take away Maradona's genius.
Messi is a product of laboratory. Maradona is a kid from the ghetto who
partied way too much and still managed to make art.

Not fair. You're talking to a Gooner so I'd always favor my own 🙂

As for Messi... this will be wildly unpopular, but I must be one of the few
who does not rage about him much. Talented? Yes, but the team around
him is world class --and he will forever live under the shadow of his
compatriot, Maradona. How to top it? By doing what Diego did: put a
good but average team on his shoulders and win a world cup almost
singlehandedly.
Cheating fat bar steward springs to mind for Diego .Watched him at Wembley in 78 ,England won 3-1 ( if I remember ) Diego was sheeite

I am not interested in his morals nor his behaviour. He's the greatest footballer I am ever likely to have the privilege of watching.

Nothing like teasing an Englishman about his boogeyman: the author of the hand of god 🙂

P.S. And just to fuel the debate, here's what Messi got:

Actually I find it quite banal. However to someone obsessed by the morality of others and practically incapable of viewing anything but through a narrow moral lens I can see why it might be appealing to you.

on the contrary your proclivity for turning almost every thread you enter into one of morality I can assure you is quite tedious.

How has this thread turned into a debate about football greats and by page 4 Roy and Robbie Keane haven't been mentioned?

Beckham was more than just set pieces, add the pace that Giggs had and you would be talking about one of the greatest.

Dennis Bergkamp, Ronaldo and Cantona, the three best players to ever play in the PL.
