Find out the cause of the pain, if not already clear - X-ray and MRI.

If Ireland is anything like the UK you will wait 12 months for an MRI scan then they will lose the scan.

If the UK is anything like the US you won't be able to afford an MRI scan - then they will lose the scan.

If prescribed by a doctor, there is no charge here for x-ray or MRI scan.

That's right, I don't mind high taxes if we benefit from them.

Well, I live in a part of the UK where you'd be lucky to wait a year for an MRI. Ireland is private healthcare, which honestly I think is a better system than the NHS. You pay insurance just like you pay national insurance in the UK, and sure you pay a bit if you need to use it unlike the UK but for injuries it's going to be worth it rather than waiting.

I think eventually the NHS will be just for emergencies and serious illnesses like cancer with all minor things being private.

How will they lose it if you can't afford it?

Move to Canada, you may wait a while but you will get it for FREE!

Private scan in Dublin is about €300, I believe relocating to Canada would cost a little more, not to mention the strain on the knee during the move.

I'll have to file this in Rusty's top 10 dumbest suggestions 😉

Perhaps you aren't the brightest for not living in a place where many medical procedures are free.

I may be the smarter one when we are done counting what we spend for medical care! 🙂
