Why do you think we need someone to act on our behalf?

May come as a minor revelation to you, Ms. Nordlys, that men do not seek permission from ladies before taking thoughtful initiatives (or

performing unselfish acts of kindness) for their benefit. Men initiate. Ladies react or respond. A man's desire to please ladies is instinctive.

Note: Goes without saying that men are sometimes clumsy, that their timing is poor and that they often find themselves asking forgiveness.

It may come as a minor revelation to you, Mr Grampy, that women are perfectly capable of taking initiatives as well. There's nothing wrong with taking the initiative for a joint activity or conversation (no matter whether you are male or female or neither), but I find it rather creepy when a man takes the initiative for a women-only-plus-himself activity. If the original intention was to just get this started for the poor ladies who can't do anything on their own and then leave, it's maybe less creepy, but rather patronising.

I also generally don't like the idea of trying to exclude some (in this case most) members from posting in a thread. This has been attempted before (e.g. 'Christians only please!'πŸ˜‰. Apart from the fact that it never seems to work, I believe it goes completely against the idea of a public forum. What makes these public fora interesting in my opinion is that a lot of different people with widely different opinions and backgrounds talk together, often clashing violently, but I consider that better than excluding those who disagree with your views or opinions or who belong to a different group from the conversation.

You are making terrible furniture out of my lumber, by distorting the figurative title of a playful conversational initiative into something sexist sicko.

Edit: Great idea... Why don't you take the initiative to launch a nice companion thread, "Men Only, Please." I'll be happy to post to it.
