This is a true story.
I was reading an outdoors or gardening type magazine the other day, and came across an ad for a live animal trap. These were created so that we humans could be more humane toward our little furry friends. The one I saw in the ad was constructed of a metal frame with open wire mesh all around, handles, and a 'trap' door on one end. Rather than kill them or maime them in a regular trap, the idea is to put out a 'live animal' trap if you are having problems with these critters, and once they're in the trap, we're supposed to pick up the trap and relocate the little rascal to a more suitable spot. These animals are OK mostly but we really don't want them tearing up our gardens, etc. By relocating them instead of killing them, everyone is happy!
This particular ad even happened to show the trap in action, and the animal that was trapped inside was a skunk.
OK, now let's stop and think about this. It's a live animal trap, so the skunk is still very much alive. However, since he is trapped, this may not be a very happy skunk. He was probably happy when he went into the trap, but he may have some idea by now that things aren't quite right and has quit being happy.
Now, the next step is that we need to go pick up that trap and relocate it elsewhere, open the door and let our little friend out so that he can be on his merry way to somewhere else, and we all can live happily everafter. That's how this is supposed to work.
Any volunteers.........???

If that should happen to you or a pet (getting sprayed by a skunk), use lots and lots of tomato juice to bath in.
But I gaurantee that I'm not going to need to use it, because there is just no way in the world that I'm going to intentionally go anywhere near one of these cages if there happens to be a skunk in it. 🙄

Seriously, have you ever used one of these type traps?

Originally posted by mwmillerCan't say as I have, I've gone to fencing with chicken wire. There are still a few "stubborn" types. But at the risk of rankling some sensitive feathers, I won't go into how I deal with them! My biggest problem this summer has been bears in my garbage cans and bears tearing up the bird feeders! If they get to be too much of a problem the PA Game Commission will come out , live trap and tag them, then release them in a more "suitable" location! The problem with that is it's usually the next county over, they get in the garbage over there, and the process starts all over and the Game Warden over there brings them over here to release🙄

Well, maybe it wasn't a skunk at all, but rather a black cat (probably female) who may have somehow got white paint on her back and tail.
I have seen several shows dealing with this very mix-up. It appears to be fairly common, and also fools skunks.
