They seemed shocked that the people of Iraq didn't welcome them with open arms. Clearly in the long run they will be much better off without Sadam. But in the current chaos and because of problems with infrastructucture they are obviously pissed off. If the US did not want to be seen as occupiers they should have had a clear plan to hand things over to the Iraqis as soon as they could. They shouldn't have given rebuilding contracts to US companies only - are the Iraqis not capable of helping to rebuild their own country? They shouldn't be trying to engineer a 'favourable' government. Let the people decide as quickly as possible.
You're doing it agian SVW. Do you remember all those posts concerning appologies for misdeeds in days passed by?
Can you see, from our point of view, that the situation we find ourselves in is exactly what us "liberals" ( ---- whatever that means) wanted the US to avoid? Does that really make us "chickens?"
We all want the same thing man. We ...[text shortened]... is is where many "liberals" stand on the issue.
Well, thanks for reading, and good night.
If the US doesn't like the outcome then 'tough' - that's called democracy.
Isn't this what the war was fought for? It's perfectly possible that the Iraqis will elect a goverment akin to that in Iran - clearly a nightmare scenario for Bush. Did he even consider this possibility ?But if that happens and is the will of the people then so be it.
