So you have given up your plans to emigrate?

I have been to London twice and mostly liked it, but I wouldn't want to live there. Bodø (which has about 40,000 inhabitants) has just the right size for me. I sometimes miss the cultural life (concerts, museums etc.) of a big city, but I would miss the surroundings I have here even more.
As with any other Londoner, we get down from time to time, but my reasons for emigrating were because of the problems faced on a national level; taxes, crime, NHS, etc. I still plan to go after my degree, but I will miss London hugely.

I love London to pieces, I've lived here for 12 years now and can't imagine myself anywhere else. It has more character than anywhere else, more diversity, more hidden beauty spots and charming cafes, more culture and architecture. Standing on Embankment bridge, watching the river at night, laying in the grass in the shade of a giant face outside the Brit ...[text shortened]... den, Chinese New Year celebrations and so much more that I couldn't list here. London rocks.
Okay... you asked for this:

London has more character than anywhere else....
Rome.

More diversity....
Rome

More hidden beauty spots....
Rome

More charming cafes....
Rome

More culture....
Oh please....Rome

Achitecture...
Rome (with so much ease it's embarassing)

Standing on embankment bridge...
I'll give you this one. Because there is not Embankment bridge in Rome. But ANY bridge crossing the Tiber is 10x it's weight worth any bridge crossing the Thames

Drinking coffee in London????
Holy, sweet Jesus...you've obviously never experienced espresso in Rome.

As for street performers....
Well, okay...the men dressed as Roman Centurians outside the colloseum do make a mockery of street performers....
But the colloseum and the Senates hill...

Nothing in the world compares.
Oh. Except maybe St. Peter's cathedral. Also in Rome.

So, if we're going on a city rant...let's rant about the real city of of the world. The city which ruled most of us for most of the time!!!

I'm afraid I disagree with everything there. The coffee bit isn't about the coffee, it's about the situation.

On a par with Simonstown, I'm sure.

So's mine.
I'm sure there are Italian coffee bars in London which do just as good an espresso as in Rome.

BUT....

Drinking an espresso in front of Stockwell station or drinking an espresso in front of the fora Romana....

Well...there's just a difference....

Don't want to do that if you are Brazilian wearing a large coat, might get shot by the cops. 😕

Red Stripe might be a better option.

Well it looks like a down-market Blackpool pleasure beach if I'm being honest.

See. That's the bane of you English.
Take an example of me:

50mg's valium
6 pints of fosters
3 pints of something unknown.

But I willl be back!
