I play, or played. I began collecting as Revised was finishing up, so most of my cards are from Fourth Edition or Ice Age. I still play every few weeks with my mates. As they are the same blokes I collected/played with in the first place I don't have to worry about the new cards or rules (none of us collect anymore).
It's good fun, but chess is better. 😀
Edit: Actually, a few of my friends have begun buying some of the new cards. Besides the new rules, they also seem a lot stronger. This could be a problem...

Apparently, there's this 'new' really nasty card out there in one of the new boosters, (my friends got it) called indestrudictable, and it is! It's a rare artifact creature and can't be destroyed by any means - apparently!
cost you 11 !!! generic mana to play and is an 11/11 creature with trample ...
I'm not too familiar with the latest rules here but it looks like the baby would survive a 'wrath of god' ...
The only drawback is that it cost 11 mana to play which makes it fairly difficult to play in the early game ...

Has anyone made a computer CCG where you don't have to pay for the cards? Trouble is, you'd then have to have some tradable commodity to make up for it, as the mechanics of these games depend on some cards being scarce and somewhat randomly distributed among the players; also there'd always be some fools who are prepared to pay real money for the cards (like you get people paying for items in online RPGs).
Don't do it. It's an extremely expensive game to play. You'll find yourself constantly wanting to purchase "just one more" outrageously expensive card to make your deck better. You'll end up sinking several hundred dollars into it and then one day you'll get tired of the whole thing and you'll have a huge box full of cards that you wouldn't be able to sell for a fraction of what you paid for them. You'd be better off just sticking to chess.

"Magic battlegrounds" is out for PS2 but is not card-based (I just checked reviews on the net), so you'd need the PC games.
I'm not sure how available they are though: a good few years old now.
Originally posted by The Slow PawnSeveral creatures in the latest series are like this. You can still "kill" them, it just requires a little imagination. Indestructable only prevents death from lethal damage. Things which "remove card from game" work, as well as things that give "-x/-x" untill end of turn can "kill" them. Blue players have a nice advantage in this with their ability to simply put it back into their controllers hands with cards like echoing truth, etc. Being a red player, I swing into high gear against these things with some old goodies like incinerate or massive destruction like the decree.

There are FAR better cards than the Colossus in this new series, but the Colossus sort of exemplifies the flavor of this set. What I consider to be the most dangerous creature of all Magic history would definitely have to be Memnarch, fresh out of this new series. With enough mana and the right artifact support.......I shudder to think!

Although I have to say that I (despite its obvious strengths) wouldn't be too afraid of it as the majority of great winner decks have many destructions card in it so plenty of chances to get rid of this thing. Still a very very powerful card if you ask me

to be honest, it didn't, but ebay was once more very helpful ... Good card though (I like the healing cards in the game) It's great to see if someone tries and tries and tries and you still have some life left (or just regenerate faster then they try to kill you) ...
