Hi all,
I'm relatively new to RHP. My main intrest in chess besides it being jolly fun is the ancient feel of the game. Knowing it was played by Medieval minds hundreds of years ago gives me goose bumps from time to time (I recently graduated as a Medieval historian, occupational hazzard so to say ;-)).
Does any of you have references to articles or books written on this subject?

I saw on your profile you're from Norway. Chess was played there well before the 11th century. Gunner, the prefect of Greenland, has send a chess set made of walrus tusks, together with a white bear, to King Harald Haardraad of Norway (1040-1067) to win his favor. You must have had a 1000 years practice running through your veigns :-).
