Leaving coastal provinces abandoned or inadequately protected is not a good idea. Remember that landed troops get a -30% combat modifier.
Another question:
Suppose, as before, England has infantry in Kent and ships in the English Channel. However, suppose that he wants to storm the beaches of Ulster. Can he load his troops in Kent onto the ships in the Channel, move those ships to the Celtic Sea, and then unload the troops in an amphibious attack in one turn?

Yes, that is how it could work. I did nearly the same thing the last game I played. I controlled France and had troops in Brittany. My ships picked up my army in Brittany, traveled to the Celtic Sea, and dropped them upon the unsespecting Irish in Ulster. Of course, we were liberators, not oppressors.

I believe they were called "courtesans"... there was an excellent movie about the Venetian courtesans, but the name eludes me...
Of course, being Venitian...

Debbie Does Venice?
No, I just looked it up, the title is "Dangerous Beauty" from 1998. It may have been released in the UK as "The Honest Courtesan" and in Australia as "A Destiny of Her Own". Starring Catherine McCormack.
Edit: I hit the Post button a tad early... I thought this was a great movie, I give it a solid 3 out of 4 stars (3.5 out of 5, hehe). Of course, if you are a male who believes women should be seen but not heard, or confined to the kitchen, then maybe this movie isn't for you 🙂
Edit: spelling... grrr!
