Feet can be a complicated body part which we all tend to take for granted. Lots of moving parts in there and lots of pressure.
Yes, agree completely. Add to that, that bone is one of the most amazing substances in the universe. Unlike stone, when bone is fractured and then subjected to repeated (low-level) stress, it grows back stronger. It adapts to the stress. Stone never does. So, get walking! All of you, even those who haven't broken a metatarsal.

I can not think of a worst place than the foot to break a bone.

It can be more of a nuisance than breaking a finger, because if you have to hobble around on crutches, both your hands are busy with the crutches, whereas if you break a finger, you've still got nine usable digits.

Yes, I know him and I don't see eye to eye on pretty much anything, but I feel sorry for the guy. A bone in the foot is a bad place. I think sometimes they make you wear a special shoe, and of course if you hurt something you're bound to hit it on something.
I had a choice I'd got with the broken finger. I know it can with some be a hard injury to heal, I knew a fellow was a year and still experiencing some pain in the foot. We do take them for granted.

I dropped a roll of lino on my left foot broke or fractured all the bones in my foot, I was working in british steel , their doc said if I had gone to the general they would have put a pot on it for 7 weeks, he strapped my foot up and I was back to work in 2 weeks( still strapped up)painfull but because I was self employed I needed to be back on the job( money) But us northerners are not like u softy walter southerners.

I suggest that, once your foot has healed, you look into buying “safety shoes” that have a marker that is “a dark grey rectangle with the letter M (in white)” on it. πŸ€”πŸ‘

The shoes I suggested, apparently, are specific to the thread’s injuries.πŸ‘

Yes, that is how my friend broke his hiking and he has done it all his life many decades. He blames on getting old, but I think it could happen to anyone.

Have they given you or told you that you would have to wear a special boot/shoe?

Have a speedy recovery.
