Free speech is a very important and valuable tool. I would disagree with it being limited.

One has to be economical when using language. Make your points quickly and clearly without rambling and insulting people's nationality or gender or intelligence.

Be respectful. See the good in others. I know that it can be hard to find sometimes but if one looks hard enough then it can be discovered.

Can't we all just get along?😁
I sort of agree with you. I think we can have disagreements without all the name calling and trying to put others down.

Can we all get along? Probably not possible. That would only happen in a perfect world.

I know there are those who will never agree even if there is compromise. Such situations are tragic because of the lack of resolution.

But I live on a divided island and compromise is necessary in order to get along.

It's not easy and Brexit has now just made things worse. 😒

I am an Irish Catholic living in Dublin Ireland. There are those who say my island will be reunited soon because of Brexit. I'm not so sure. An end to the division of my country is going to take more than Brexit.

The British under Boris are not interested in Northern Ireland. I think Boris would be happy to see it cut loose.

Northern Ireland is costing London many billions of pounds to keep and run. Probably maybe 20 billion a year.

The Irish mentality could start a fight in a phone box. They don’t have too much in the political negotiation tool box, but the wrenches they have, they use a lot.

I am simply trying to point out 2 things.
    1. The futility of limiting free speech. It restricts one's ability to get your point across effectively and

    2. The importance of being respectful and taking on board the views of others.

Nowhere have I been disrespectful or insulting or sarcastic of you or anyone else.

    Who said you had?

Edit: We have a reoccurring chap here who pops up with a new identity, invariably from a different country which he mentions in every post (in the GF and Debates). We had the pleasure of him for a while as a Canadian (Old Indian) and a host of others. If you are not him, welcome to the site, and yes free speech is very important.

I support that bit of critical thinking Ghosty.
    I'm skeptical.
It's more than unusual to have someone join the site and post in a Forum even prior to playing a game.

Thank you for the welcome. I have never been to Canada. It's a place I would love to visit but I don't do snow.

I would love to have been born someplace warm like Florida or somewhere in the Med.

France Spain or Italy. I love Spanish weather French wine and Italian food.

Sadly I am stuck with Irish rain and now they say there is a snowstorm coming. The beast from the east part 2.

I think it is quite obvious at this point the person has been here before! 😉

The only spanners here are those who think that I am an old account.

It is encouraged by the admin that we should play games and engage in the chess community by way of the forum.
I will shortly be sending a postal order for 35 Euro to net Adapt for a one year subscription.
This will equate with the 39.95 dollar subscription.
That postal order will originate from a post office in the Dublin 8 area.

When it happens you can ask the admin if my location, postal order and mobile number all tally with my account .

No point in giving you the e mail because that will not prove location.

We have both. Spanner is the standard term, but we would use wrench for specialist devises e.g. torque wrench, monkey wrench, pipe wrench. We also have an “adjustable spanner”.

Spanner is also slang for a person who is physically or mentally clumsy. A bit like “wally”.
