Martin Luther: His actions resulted in diversity within Christianity, and the long chain of events may have led to European settlement of the western hemisphere, not to mention numerous wars and weird events

General Lafayette: His assistance (and France's, through him) in the colonial war for independence had a huge impact on the world, both as a model for the possibility of removing the yoke of whatever it was we were feeling yoked by, but the impacts (positive and negative) that Canada and the United States have had on the world since then.

Alfred Nobel: both through his own discoveries and inventions (most notably dynamite), but his lasting legacy of the prize that bears his name as well. It isn't often that the world stops to honor people for doing something genuinely good.

(edit: apologies for only posting men.)

1. Fire
2. The wheel
3. Viagra
(Apologies for #1, which was a discovery. The invention was the method of which to produce fire.)

#3 is well overated.....not that I know of course someone told me.
#1 was a method? I thought it was "given" through a lightening bolt from Zeus or was it Pele?
