Just a quick question/opinion toss out.

Any comments on this years movies? Seen anything good? Seen anything really bad?

I like movies a lot, all kinds, but I've listed the major releases below.

Daredevil - One of my favorite comics, but only an okay movie.

X2:X-Men United - Very good. Liked it better than the original, and sets up X3 perfectly.

Terminator 3:Rise of the Machines - Had low expectations and was pleasently surprised. Liked it and it kept to the Skynet/Machines storyline. The Terminatrix was disappointing and boring though. Liked the ending.

Charlies Angles:Full Throttle - Like it, but not as much fun as the first one. Was a lot of action but not a lot of plot. Best part for me, the Jaclyn Smith appearance (kelly garret returns!).

Hulk - VERY disappointing to this turtle. Was bored bored bored.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Seemed longer than it was and thats not a good thing. Worth a matinee viewing but it was way heavy with a need for a good editor.

What did you think? See any good movies lately?!?

The LotR trilogy are just great I think, the Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions (coming November) are also super!

The Hulk has some nice action, but the plot isn't that great, but afcourse...it was comic!

Charlie's Angels is just bad, it's a lame excuse to let three hot girls walk in tight pants...

Olav, when I was your age that alone would have made it the greatest movie in the world.

I was with the girlfriend so I could not "enjoy" the film on its relative merit. The guy playing Bosley has some classic lines, real quality stuff, the rest is brash, loud entertainment for the American MTV generation. Much more fun though than that Jim Carey rubbish I got dragged to see.

The billboard ad for Bruce Almighty raises my heckles I can tell ya. Gets right on my tits make no mistake *rattles zimmerframe in protest*. I'm no great believer but my understanding of "the original" (ie the clan pic for the Apostles) was that all man had to do to find God was to lift up his head and stretch out his finger to meet the fully outstretched finger tip of the hand of God. Having had the immense privilege of gawping at the Sistine Chapel ceiling recently and seeing the image first hand it now drives me nuts seeing the inanely grinning bouffanted Carey staring straight at at the figure of God, with his own finger fully outstretched, as if he were pointing at the big G.

I assume the designers of the poster were aware of this and probably did this on purpose, but still.

Are you protesting on artistic, or theological grounds?

Purely theological.

An utter waste of time on your part.

Michelangelo lived from 1475-1564. This is a known fact. The Sistine ceiling was arguably his greatest work of art (and one of the greatest in the history of western art). To argue against the belittlement of a great work of art by an actual artist might be a worthwhile endeavor.

To argue against the desecration of a conjectural mythology is an utter waste of time and energy. You may as well rail on about how the Olympian gods were depicted in the "Xena" television series. Your argument would be just as relevant.

The sad thing is that if I was to go on about Xena or whatever it is you refer to you'd still run with it and jump on it. Oh you poor man. On the contrary Robert. A very worthwhile exercise in setting someone up.

While you get your kicks and smiles in having phony unnecessarily aggressive word battles in the clan forums in "maniacal clan leader mode" I prefer a different way. I knew you wouldn't be able to resist the bait. Seeing you rant away as if you have some kind of intellectual dominance over me and everyone else that dares to say something which differs from your view just makes me giggle. "Waste of time", "utter waste of time and energy" bla bla bla. Quoting Michaelangelo's dates and giving me some bland "greatest work of art" statement. You patronise me greatly.

Indeed you understimate me so much to think that I would be objecting purely on theological grounds? LOL. Just by your post asking me on what grounds I was protesting it was all too apparant that you were spoiling for a fight, almost wishing me to reply as I did. You're right of course that to object on theological grounds shows a certain level of intellectually wooliness, but me highlighting your desperation almost to inflict some kind of belittling and patronising attitude on and towards me proved to be a very worthwhile exercise.

Different people, different ways of "playing the game".
