I think Triffids is around 1970 or so.
THX1138 is about this absolute controlled society living underground and one guy figuring it out and getting to see the surface.
1975ish I think.

Great films but I wouldn't say they are unpopular they are all on this best 250 list. Memento and Cidade de Deus are both in the top 25 and donnie darko is in the top 100.
