Is it a CD?
Where is it now and where do you want it to be put?
What's the exact message you are getting?

yep a CD

to get any sound out of PC it made me load a bunch of software and played through Windows media player

said in one of the menus that it didn't support iPods / iTunes

but I loaded across anyway and just got garbage ... ie it didn't stop me - it just ends up scrambled.

As Xanthos has pointed out, sony have protected the cd.

You can return this product and ask for your money back, as once sony put in the copy protection algorithms, it is no longer a cd, according to the established specifications of a cd.

So, I'd recommend returning it, getting your money back and downloading it.

Fight against copy protection by not buying CDs that use it.

You will probably want to remove the software installed when you inserted the CD. Google it.

In future press and hold down the left shift key for a few seconds when inserting any music CD. This prevents any autorun on the CD from being executed and installation of unwanted software.

I have the Album "Air - Talkie Walkie" published by Virgin music (well their logo is on the disc cover anyway).

Closer inspection of album back shows "COPY COTROLLED - IFPI".

If you look at the surface of the disc you can see there are two distinct regions - a small outer one and large inner one. I googled this and it appears the outer section contains the copy protection software (the inner one is the music). The copy protection can apparently be avoided by taking a marker pen and masking the outer track!

Another thing to watch out for is that there is no "CD Audio" logo on the disc. I assume this is because these type of 'music' discs do not conform to the CD standard. There is a link on the back of CD - www.emimusic.info

I only buy origianl CDs. I don't agree with music piracy and am not interested in mp3 quality downloads. However it does p*ss me off when you don't even get the real deal when buying an original from a shop and have software installed on your PC!

Apparently some CDs have both types available and you can take 'em back for replacement........[so I have heard anyway]
