Redmike, have you been to the Killermont Polo club? That is the Indian restaurant that I am talking about (agree it is a strange name for a restaurant, but it did actually used to be a Polo club). It is on Maryhill Road. I haven't been there for years and was wondering if it was still of the same standard today.
Yes, I've been to the Killeremont Polo Club a couple of times.
The food is excellent, and like you say quite traditional. I find the atmosphere a bit formal and stuffy though.

I used to live a couple of hundred yards from it.

I agree that a lot of what we get in 'Indian' restaurants in the UK would be unrecognisable in India. Its still good though, even if it isn't authentic!

I'd recommend Madhur Jaffrey's Curry Bible as a book for curry recipes, if you're into cooking your own. Lots of curry recipes from around the world, including the UK's favourite - chicken tikka masala.

My mum frequently made curries from Madhur Jaffrey's recipe books. Have to agree, they are great! 🙂

Another good recommendation is a short recipe book called "The Curry Secret". How to make a number of curries that you get in Indian restaurants in the UK. See link below.

stick to a korma. the more mild it is, the lighter on your arse the pain will be the next day.

Korma's like a curry, but for girls. Little, cute girls with pigtails and dolls. Not a proper man's curry at all.

Well Mike, considering my arse feels like I've spent a night in the cell with Big Bad Bill the Bangladeshi bum Bandit , I may as well have little pigtails...

And I play with dolls anyway (warhammer dolls...).

Korma is the way it is to be. I feel secure in this opinion.

Actually I shunned kormas for years in the belief that they were curries for people who didn't like curries, but I've started eating them recently and they can be pretty good taste-wise.
Of course, if you need that chili-buzz stay away.

Kormas are excellent! What do you mean they're for little girls? I prefer the Butter Chicken myself with the super spicy green chili and yogurt sauce. Oh man, my sphincter is quivering just thinking about it!
