15 year old chucklehead just got out of a 30 day stint in juvenile hall, spent two days with us, and now I'm missing TWO pistols, a snub nose revolver and a high capacity 9 m/m.
Any suggestions, besides freaking out and calling the police to report them stolen? And fingering the little creep?

Following are stupid things:

1. Not locking up your guns.
2. Not reporting theft of guns to police immediately. Are you waiting for them to be used in the commission of a crime before you say anything?
3. Asking advice about this in the general forum of a chess website.

I just discovered them missing a few hours ago, I don't have a gun safe, but I keep them well hidden, only a pro thrashing the place with plenty of time could find them,. Or an insider. Like my jerk grandson. I just called his father to give him some time to sort it out and get back to me before I contact the authorities.

That was my first thought, buy a Louiseville Slugger, since replacing those two pistols will cost about a grand.

It's a federal law that you Must report a gun theft to your local police within 24 or maybe it's 48hr. after noticing it's missing. If that gun is used for illegal reasons you could be prosecuted unless you report it. Turn the kid in. It's for the best. He's probably going to sell them. It's the right thing to do for the kid and society. Keep your guns in a heavy duty safe when you're not around the house Or get trigger locks.

I've said this quite a few times in the past, I believe I have even said it to you, but I think that this time you have earned it beyond any doubt even by those most sceptical of my opinions - You are an Idiot.

PS - millimetre is abbreviated "mm" not "m/m." Chucklehead.

Well before they turn up in a crime where someone gets killed, yeah I'd call the police.
