I wonder what it is like to be narcissistic?
1. To experience, without even knowing one is experiencing, that one's deliberations are completely self-consuming; and yet to also need the spontaneous belief that one's opinions are so consequential to all others, and that rejection of them can't possibly be POSSIBLE... CAN IT?
2. To bear witness to the narcissistic's reality of self in that he must be accepted, in that he MUST be true in all beliefs, and of massive consequence in all aspects of others' lives?
The list could go on....... but my brevity permits me not to... 😉

from Psychology Today:
"Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Individuals with narcissistic personality disorder generally believe that the world revolves around them. This condition is characterized by a lack of ability to empathize with others and a desire to keep the focus on themselves at all times.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder involves arrogant behavior, a lack of empathy for other people, and a need for admiration-all of which must be consistently evident at work and in relationships. People who are narcissistic are frequently described as cocky, self-centered, manipulative, and demanding. Narcissists may concentrate on unlikely personal outcomes (e.g., fame) and may be convinced that they deserve special treatment. Related Personality Disorders: Antisocial, Borderline, Histrionic. Narcissism is a less extreme version of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Narcissism involves cockiness, manipulativeness, selfishness, power motives, and vanity-a love of mirrors. Related personality traits include: Psychopathy, Machiavellianism.
Narcissists tend to have high self-esteem. However, narcissism is not the same thing as self-esteem; people who have high self-esteem are often humble, whereas narcissists rarely are. It was once thought that narcissists have high self-esteem on the surface, but deep down they are insecure. However, the latest evidence indicates that narcissists are actually secure or grandiose at both levels. Onlookers may infer that insecurity is there because narcissists tend to be defensive when their self-esteem is threatened (e.g., being ridiculed); narcissists can be aggressive. The sometimes dangerous lifestyle may more generally reflect sensation-seeking or impulsivity (e.g., risky sex, bold financial decisions)."
It's interesting that narcissism itself is not ranked as a "personality disorder" except in its extreme form. Should one infer from that, that it's actually normal human behaviour?

Originally posted by KewpieI scored 0 on the narcisissm one, although ther were a couple of questions, neither statement truly fitted me. I thought I must have done something wrong to get 0 but as you have a score of 1 then maybe that is the benchmark for 'normal' people :o)
Took the test and scored 1 out of 40, guess I'm a complete failure in this regard.
Tried the other test on that website and did considerably better with 11 out of 40. How did you do on the PSYCHOPATH one or weren't you brave enough to tackle it?
I will take the Psychopath one now. Never noticed it before. If you don't hear back from me, there has been a knock on my door and I have been carted off by the cyber police.
Edit: I scored 10 on the pschopath. Just within the constraints of a 'normal' personality. Ha!

Same goes for kewpie. If you truly scored that low you wouldn't be the types to use a forum because you have no self confidence or esteem.
Originally posted by SwissGambitI scored a 50 because there were some questions that should have been asked and I also developed a better scoring system than the author of the test.
I scored 10 on Narcissism and 4 on Psychopath.
I tried the psycho test on my drunk friend and they scored a 27.
Originally posted by PhlabibitI answered honestly dude and yes I do suffer from low self esteem. Sorry you find that hard to believe.
