what are you talking about?
is it baseball, or gridiron?
or something else?
Sox win World Series, first time since 1918!
With any luck they are not pulling Boston down by the boards and buring it. Flipping cars and just going nuts. This is a great day for me. My Father has been waiting all his life for the win. His father waited his whole life, and never saw it.
I've waited too, and as I watched my father was telling me that it would never happen. He had given up. But they did it! My father is glad about it, but surprised I am sure. More surprised than you could 'perhaps' understand.
Last time Sox won you could buy a loaf of bread for 11 cents... and there were no US Basketball or NFL leauges. The depression was years away. People waited their whole life... and died.
This is big.

Seriously, congratulations it's about time! Now go have a couple of beers and maybe you'll even start saying. "You know, if it's possible the Sox can win, maybe it's possible no1Marauder is right about a lot of things ........."
They just had to wait for the right cosmic alignment to break the curse, first lunar eclipse during a World Series and all, it's all in the stars, if you wait long enough, monkeys write your shopping list for next week, I'm a bit disappointed the world didn't end in the 9th with 2 out but you can't have everything.

Originally posted by PhlabibitCongrats, Phlab! We;ve waited long for this day! Still can't believe it finally happened. It forever changes my whole outlook on the team. No longer will I be thinking "Now how are they going to blow it this time?" when it seems victory is certain fro them. It turns out there was no curse after all, they just needed the right owner to hire the right president to hire the right GM to find the right mix of players and a manger to bring it all home. Let's enjoy this one while we can, because tomorrow, the standings reset:

How many non-american teams are in the World Series?
Its all about marketing. Manchester United, Celtic, Bayern Munich and a few other teams did a tour of American in the summer. I guess the organisers must have gotten together to try to figure out how to get our american friends interested in the one true sport. One of the marketing boffins must have wet himself when he figured out that all they had to do was call it the Champions World Series. But hang on, a few of the teams aren't even champions of their own country, never mind the world, so thinking caps back on and the company was called Champions World. The result: Sold out games!! Brilliant.
Congrats to Red Sox.
