Please take a look at [vid]12[/vid]

We are trying to gauge the opinion for adding the option to annul, or delete, games that have timed out rather than giving "claim win" as the only option to complete the game.

This doesn't apply to games with two or fewer moves, as these will always only have the option to be deleted.

I'm assuming the delete option would only be available to non-tournament / non-clan matches.

What exactly do you mean by "force draw"?

Instead of claiming a win you could claim a draw.

Why have a clock, but not a timeout win ???

This is a bad idea, and would just fill the forums with babies throwing their rattles out the pram everytime a win was claimed.

Games should just timeout automatically as soon as the clock run down. It s nice and simple and fair to all players.

I disagree. You will have always the time out option at hand.
The other options are at your command, and you can arrange with your opponent the result without affecting the respective ratings.
It is way a much more flexible system. Think of it.
And I don't see how this new options can cause an abuse from either part. You remain in command of the result of a game.

Well, anyway I can't vote.

The real thought behind this is for people who don't like having abandoned games hanging around, but also don't want to claim a win in a losing situation because it will artificially inflate their rating.

We are also in the process of considering making the vacation system work so that you are immune from timeouts when your flag is up and I'll put up another vote on this 🙂

Now thats a good idea 🙂

As long as it was limited to four weeks a year, or sumthin, else people would move, then put the vacation flag up ad-infinitum 😕

it's good for the users (I like it), bad for the amount of whining in forums.

"waaa! it's not ethical to claim a win in a drawn game!"
"waaa! it's not ethical to claim a draw in a lost game!"

plus all the variations of the themes.

the 'immunity by vacation flag' sounds like another whine generator...

It should not happen, cos the very first option you'll have is to claim a win by TO! So, if you claim a draw having won it by TO, your contender should be grateful 🙂

If this were to happen there would need to be a limit on how long you could have your vacation flag up for per year. Say 4-6 weeks.

Yes, I think everyone should have a fixed x amount of days they can claim in a year. I would suggest 30 days would be more than adequate. It could work just like the timebank and run down to zero when activated.
