the title.. I had forgotten to put one in as I was writing it... so sue me.

anyways

As I was looking at the question I had posted.. and my answer.. I think that I still needed to address the last part of it. "Why has the notion of race persisted, long after it has been shown to lack any explanatory power? " It is this part I am sure that still bugs me.

Better then being a car salesman. At least you probably don't have to pay 3.50$ for a cup of coffee like the rest of us do.

Racism first reared its ugly head in the 19th century with a misinterpretation of Darwins theory of evolution. This misinterpretation saw the West as more evolutionary advanced than the non-West, as “the human brain was seen as having been gradually enlarged by the accumulative experience of the civilising process” (Stocking 1992: 351). This as well as colonialism led to racism, eventually this mis-deed will be undone until then we're stuck with it!

P.S Britain's and America's propaganda of the middle east as some kind of 'other' doesn't help matters ๐Ÿ™

I think racism goes back a "little" further than that.
