What is racism? Can racists also be ‘nice people’? Why has the notion of race persisted, long after it has been shown to lack any explanatory power?

what I have so far.... Racism, defined as a racial prejudice, usually includes the belief that people differ in aptitudes and abilities based on their nationality. - Being racist does not necessarily mean you are an unfriendly person in general. But rather you have a different belief system, one where you see an individual’s value being defined by their racial category. This, in the mind of a racist, makes that social discrimination by race justifiable.
