re-read my post, colonialism is mentioned as it went hand in hand with 'social-darwinism', and the slave trade wasn't about racism it was about free labour!

Before the advent of Darwinian concepts of evolution, there was an ethnological congruence with philological thought as there was believed to be a correlation between language and race; “affinity in language implies affinity in race” (Muir 1858: 190); with physical differences being seen as attributable to the influence of the environment rather than as a racial difference. Descendants of the Sanskrit language (modern languages of North India and Sri Lanka) are linguistically related to European languages including English, all of them being members of the Indo-European family. According to 18th and 19th century philologists Indo-European speakers therefore formed a racially unitary group, with linguistic affinities assumed to prove a community of descent .

So you think colonialism and the slave trade appeared in the 19th century?

Don't be trite, as i said slavery had nothing to do with racism, it was a purely ecomnomic endevour, just as the slave trade was abolished due to capitalism and the idea of employment as being a cheaper version of slavery rather than a moral standpoint.

Crap. Slavery started over economical reasons but it was accompanied with racism all the way. Many at the time wondered if Native Americans had souls, for example.

And my beef was with your 19th century allusion. Pseudo theoretical justifications for racism are different from the actual racism itself.

Edit - Just to mention your ridiculous notion that employment is a cheaper version of slavery. 🙄

Slavery was abolished due to he emergence of capitalism, it was cheaper to pay someone wages than to house, feed and clothe them, plus those on a wage would work harder than slaves, in the hope of promotion.

You might want to read up on the US Civil War and Slavery.

Perhaps what you wrote is something the North tried to sell to the South so they would abolish slavery? I've never heard this take on the subject.

Until you retract that:
- Racism started in the 19th century;
- Racism was not present in slavery
- Slavery was abolished because it was less profitable to the slave owners

I'm forced to treat you this way. So stop saying moronic things and I'll stop treating you like a moron.
