I don't often watch telly, but I had it on last night while I was fixing dinner and heard a rather interesting advert which got me thinking.
I'd like to pose the same question here:
If you had to choose only one book to read to your child, what would you choose?
Would you choose something philosophical, historical, scientific, fictional or satirical?
How would you justify your choice?
Personally I'd choose one of Da Vinci's Notebooks, not only does it retain an element of fantasy, it would make them think and challenge ideas, explore and grow.
However it seems to be a double edged sword, how can you decide on one opinion and one only to shape that child for the rest of their life?
Anyway, just curious as to what some of you would choose. So let's hear it.

When children have read just a few books they tend to take it as true and not be very skeptic. They haven't found contradiction yet.
