To Have And Have Not by Ernest Hemingway

Why wait to teach the kids about the harsh realities of life?

I would have them read the "Why was Kirksey Banned" thread.
Because it's fantasy, science fiction, opinion, thought provoking (hah), humor, and the story never ends.

Then I'd give them some bourbon and a revolver.

They already have, by allegedly tuning down the anti-church sentiment.

Lord of the Rings, as it contains everything a child needs to know about friendship, loyalty, destiny, perseverance and that people from the East are evil 😉

I don't often watch telly, but I had it on last night while I was fixing dinner and heard a rather interesting advert which got me thinking.
I'd like to pose the same question here:

If you had to choose only one book to read to your child, what would you choose?
Would you choose something philosophical, historical, scientific, fictional or satirical?
H ...[text shortened]... f their life?
Anyway, just curious as to what some of you would choose. So let's hear it.
