Dear English,
When I was a teenager, and from a great distance, I grew fond of your writers, poets, comedians, football players, musicians, and scholars. I developed an image of the English as the fortunate few who inherited an enligthened tradition of civilized thinking and an eagerness to improve human science and arts.
Later on, as I moved into my younger years, I read and studied your empire, and I discovered horrible events performed in the name of the Crown and civilization, within cultures that were as fascinating and respectable as yours. My heart became sad, yet my respect for your contributions to the elevation of the human spirit remained.
Then I came to Europe and I ended up living in a place tremendously attractive amongst the English for stag parties, holiday, and even retirement. I ended up avoiding their gathering places and their presence as the plague; tattooed, noisy, foul mouthed, alcoholic, arrogant and disrespectful to the locals... a corner of my heart was broken.
My respect for your achievements in science and arts remains. My interest in the lights and shadows of your history is intact. Though, what shall I do with the image kept from your contemporary countrymen? Even though I treasure a couple of friendships of decent, intelligent and hardworking English, everywhere I go there's a bunch of you, smelling strongly like stella artois, yelling as if we were all interested in your chat, puking in the streets, yelling 'Manchester United' or singing very loud some football anthem, and pushing around the local girls and boys.
Please help... for the love and respect many of us have for your culture. I beg you, consider implementing attitude, general culture, and behavioral tests before granting the right of leaving the country for business or pleasure.
With best regards,
Seitse

I believe its the sport that attracts these tools........ no other sporting events that I have been to have had the same mentality amongst the fans.

Apparently the english are now the joint (with germans) second most liked tourist, behind the japanese. I'll agree this survey probably never surveyed the locals in ibiza / magaloof (probably spelt wrong) etc
