My rescue dog is super smart. She can sense my emotions even if she is trotting ahead of me. I’ve been through 2 painful bereavements in the past 3 years. Whenever I experience sad memories she immediately knows and will slow her pace and look anxious. If it happens at home she retreats to a corner where she can’t see me. I read that dogs sense our emotions by smell.
