They probably do not get the kind of funding that the high profile able bodied athletes get, but I would think that they would get some govt grants, and lottery funding, certainly here in the UK anyway.

Channel 4 who are screening the 'Paralympics' here ran a brilliant teaser campaign.

Growing up a friend of a friend was a skier in the Paralymics, he had several medals.

Australia spends truckloads of money on the elite athletes' university, but very little on other athletic activities. Our Paralympians mostly have to fundraise with their families and local communities just to get the travel costs, and I suspect that's the case with most other countries where the politicians think the "main game" is everything.
