To say that people don't endure conversations to your level of satisfaction because they lack "grit" or "staying power", in my opinion, reveals your stubborn attitude that an issue in communication is mainly the fault of the person who doesn't wish to communicate any longer. It's the opposite in my opinion. If the other person is not worth talking to or do ...[text shortened]... generalization coupled with a self-centred sense of entitlement.
