Lets see, Frank Zappa as a pretty boy band with no talent.
Eric Clapton and Greg Allman as a pretty boy band with no talent. Yeah, Sure, that's the ticket.
BTW, I would also vote for 'Maybellene', Chucky baby, even though it was a takeoff of a bluegrass song, Ida Red.

Ok, upon further review, this thread represents fairly well.

Is that rock? 😛

They're from the greatest country in the world, you know? Not that their
excellence reflects on me in any way, mind you. Oh, and Per Gessle (guitar,
vocals) led a famous Swedish pop-band before Roxette called gyllene tider:

http://uk.

Of course, that's not rock either and probably completely incomprehensible
to you. Never mind this post. Nothing to see here. 😕

LOL!!

That's not rock? Oh guess I just don't know some stuff! 😀😛

I asked my Itiallian exchange why they listen to more English spoken songs then Itiallian and like them so much when htey don't understand the words, she said it's better that way, fades into the back ground and you can just enjoy the melody. I like your link.

Johnny B Goode definitely belongs. Layla, Immigrant Song, and Jumpin Jack Flash are all near perfect rock songs as well.

I'd add Stay With Me, Paranoid, Get it On/band A Gong, and because he should be represented, David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust.

And now, a question for the panel of experts: does anyone remember a group called The Soft Machine? I read a Pink Floyd retrospective and Soft Machine was listed as a contemporary of Floyd that had a similar sound. Were they any good?

I used to have vinyl records of Soft Machine. They are a band that really got me going as a jazz fan actually.
