For some reason I don't understand, the headlines say
Aussies attacked by pirates, there were only about 10 or 15 Australians
aboard. It was an american owned ship. The pirates used rocket
propelled granades and rifles. Apparently that part of the african
coast is dangerous waters rife with pirates who usually attack
frieghters with small crews.

As you said, pirates are very active, and you never hear about them until they attack a boat with some of your fellow citizens on board.
