Check out Helden. He is the most active person in terms of moves per day on the site.

Apparently one user has had 900 ish games in progress at one time.

I once had 120 or so but couldn't keep up and got fed up of chess for a little while as a result.

I very recently had over 220 games going. Mostly for a swing at the MAP-title. Am cutting it down to 80. 220 is doable, but far from comfortable if you don't managed to get only games with a large timeout and timebank period.
