Nope. Makes no sense. Take the cake, Arrakis.

I didn't say I don't care. I'm making a point here and it's becoming even more obvious to me that world opinion supports exactly what I'm trying to get everyone to see! People responded about "yeah, we care about the solders but we also care about these 7..."
I'm talking about the thousands of innocent citizens being SLAUGHTERED in Iraq by the Am ...[text shortened]... sk this of you BECAUSE it's people like yourself that ALLOW the continuing slaughter in Iraq!
Sorry Arrakis.
I respect your point.
But my limited command of english put severe limits on my posts.
Anyway, I agree with you. Any form of life on earth deserves for me the major of respects.
But I want you to understand this:
I've started this thread 'cos I think it's only a matter of hours (minutes) before this poor people would have a terrivle death.
Just now. I'm hearing thru radio the news, and the failure of another atempt to rescue them 🙁 And time is going more short every second.
What happened in Afganistan, and is happening everyday in Iraq is of my concern too. But that deserves another thread. I know, how could I be not aware of the atrocciies that are taken place in middle orient?
But I can take care of one thing at a time, at least while starting a new thread here.
So, I beg you pardon if I have given priority to this topic. It DESERVES IT!
Peace.

Let me try and explain.
These people have never really had to endure war as people in the Middle East have, and now they are in a situation where they only have minutes left of oxygen. People in the Middle East have known war for a long, long, long time, many for most their lives. When you add in poverty and cruel regimes of power, they live with hardship all their life. They are used to it, and no matter how sad and disappointing that is, it is the truth.
These soldiers, some of them not even in their late 20's, are facing death by suffocation, at the bottom of the ocean. I'm aware for some people in the Middle East, they are killed as children; but often it is quick. So, for one day, take your minds off the Middle East, and towards people that may never see the best of life, and knowing that while they die.

What are you trying to say? That it's ok for the ones that have been suffering to suffer some more, because they are used to it???
I guess arrakis flushed at least one hypocrite out, even if I think he incorrectly targeted Little Bear.

Aha. Death will visit us all. Some times it may creep up behind us and take us by surprise, other times it will confront us full on and slap us in the face. Either way, we're gonna go. All of us. Muhahahahahahaahahahahahahah. You're gonna die. Haaaaaaaaaaa!

It seems to me that you have a very valid (but not an absolute one) point on the matter. Could I ask you (no sarcasm intended, in fact an honest question) what do you think about the Columbia tragedy in feb 2003? 7 people too. How do you lived it?

This is getting a bit out of hand here. All the guy asks for is some prayer and thoughts for the men in danger, and as some could have predicted, the thread takes a violent turn for thw worse.
Those men are in danger. Seven more are up in space, attempting to come home when the last such attempt failed. Thousands are soldiers overseas in dangerous land. Millions are in hospital beds, perhaps wondering if they will see the next morning.
Guess what? The world sucks. People everywhere face death and sickness every day. It doesn't mean I don't care. I really do, and I pray for the sad and sick of the world, sometimes specifically like LittleBear has asked, but if I were to ponder on these things, what kind of emotional state would I be in?
I guess what I'm trying to say is that yes, tens of millions of people are suffering, but it isn't wrong to hope for the best for a specific group of them. It doesn't mean you're ignoring the rest.

First off, Littlebear's grasp of English is more than sufficient to make very eloquent posts.
Ever see the movie "The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming?"
It's about a disabled Russian submarine washing up in a New England (USA) town during the Cold War. Tensions build between the crew of the submarine and the local people to the point where there is an armed showdown between the two sides and it sure looks like there will be a bloodbath.
All of a sudden, somebody comes running up with the news "a kid has fallen down a well!" Immediately, both sides drop their weapons, and together, rescue the kid.
Don't really know what else to say.

I never said it's OK, I said it's the truth. They are used to it, but it Doesn't Make It OK. Get that through.

Where am I hypocritical? Please, point that out; and as for the "Arrakis flushing out a hypocrite" part -

Well said, Coconut. Some people can only pray. Other, hopefully, could do something more useful. My heart is wirh them. I can't.
Well, DARN-IT!!! I tried to make a point that WE ALL SHOULD BE CARING ABOUT WHAT IS CURRENTLY GOING ON UNDER THE US INVASION OF IRAQ! (because thousands are suffering every day; and it continues because nobody is strong enough to fight against the evil people who want world power).
But instead, I'm criticized for being insensitive 😞 For not caring about these 7 saylors...
I think I cannot make people see what they choose not to see. I give up. You won't hear from me again. :'(
