Hello all,

Right now my life is totally messed up ... Had a massive car crash this morning (my fault as well) so was hoping that after pentathlon delivered me the wrong computer Tuesday to get mine today and could at least enjoy something this week ...

But it seems that I have been screwed all over with this thing ...
Now, I need to know exactly what this thing has (and what hasn't) ... Is there anywhere I can check that (apart from under Windows system) ... I've had a programme in the past that gave me all the information but can't find it anywhere on my external drives (nor can I remember the name) ... Please help me on this one, thanks a lot guys

What system is the computer running? XP?

Might help to know. Why did you crash your car!?!?!

A car crash? Jeez, are you all right, man? No injuries or anything, anyone hurt?

Anyways though, if you go to Add/Remove Programs, that will give you a bulk of what is installed in it. And I think if you also click My Computer there is a Manage option you can choose that will have a list for you, there might be a System Info thing or something there. If not then it may be under Accessories in the Start Menu, under System Tools.

I crashed into another car in front of me ... I think she is faking some back and head pain (to get more money of the insurance) ... but hey who cares ...

Windows XP professional ... All is messed up, my broadband runs at 3kb a sec, nothing works ... Please anyone give me a programe (etc.) that helps me identifying the components of my PC (so I can send it back if it's not exactly what I've ordred)

many thanks

if you rum cmd and select your main drive type tree and wait for it to finish (this can take ages so i suggest a cup of tea) it will take longer for the more you have installed+the morefiles you have and create. then all you have to do is scroll down or up to see what your pc has or hasnt got.

You would have to dload the software .... and its about 100MB.

PCMARK04 is a pretty super benchmark, but if your pc is running really slowly ... something is very much amis.

GO to performance monitor and check to see if something isn't eating up your CPU. You should have received motherboard monitoring software with your system, which should tell you if its overheating..

cheers

OK Boris. XP Pro is a breeze. Go to Control Panel / Sytem / Hardware / Device manager and all your toys will be listed.

Thanks all ...

I've rang Robbo and it looks like it was me (again) who messed up

1.) Prior to installing XP, I've inserted my firewire card (which is not good according to Robbo)
2.) My GeForce Graphics card hasn't had the drivers installed (as the CD was scratched and unreadable, hence the system crashes)
3.) I had spy software on that computer (gods know how it got there !!)

Robbo talked me through, I've removed the spyware (so Internet works okay - will be moving from tomorrow night onwards), and am now downloading my graphics software from nvidia direct

All I really wanna know now is my processor speed (it says 1.20 GHZ under XP system - but I ordered much more then that !! It's an AMD Semperon 2800

In 2000, if you click Start, Run, and type in DXdiag, it gives u a little screen detailing some of your hardware, including the cpu you've got.

Don't know what it is in XP, but might be the same.

Else you should be able to see on startup.
