It's not a good thing to say what I heard said, to my friend who was with her adult child when they died last week. Which was;
"If you think she's not in Heaven, I hope it comforts you to know that I prayed about it and Ann told me she's with her there".
I wondered if the lady was crazy.
And my friend was not comforted btw. What a pointless thing to say.
@yo-its-me saidAs a general rule of thumb, no atheist is comforted to be told by a theist that a loved one is in heaven. They might as well tell them they are having afternoon tea with the Yeti.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidI guess there is no comforting thing one can say.

But saying bolx is definitely not good
It's insulting to the grief
It's like the bereaved person is suddenly open to fairy tales
@yo-its-me saidMay God bless watch over each and everyone of you! 🙂

Who ever doesn't believe in God, not my problem, just deal with it. 🙂

@yo-its-me saidWell hoping it would give others comfort.
If that comforts you that's great.
At least get a conversation going. 🙂

Nobody knows what happened to us before we were born, or what will happen after we have died - nobody. We may think we do, we have theories but that's all they are. And sometimes that is a comforting thought.

Any maybe it's so comforting to a person that they think it will comfort another when they see them hurting. I get that.
The lady meant well.
But sometimes good intensions aren't helpful

@yo-its-me saidNobody knows the truth about these things. If you respond negatively then you are behaving as if know the truth. The best thing here is say 'thanks'.

It was a pointless thing the lady said to my friend- there was no point to it. Unless for her to feel she had comforted my friend. And she hadn't, but it's no bother to let her think she had.
What my friend did was she agreed with the lady and said of cause her daughter is in Haven, no God wouldn't want her with them.
But what I'm saying is, it was a pointless thing to say. aNd if my friend had been in my mindset it might have made her feel annoyed
