why when i win a couple of games does my points hardly move, but when i loose a couple it drops like a stone, new to site, 2 weeks

One main factor is the difference in ratings between you and your opponent. The system expects you to beat players with lower ratings and you don't get a lot of points for doing that, but it does reward you for knocking off a much higher rated player.
